Have you already collected all Pokémon from the regions Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh? Will you ruthlessly take the arena around the corner for your team and bring down the legendary Pokémon in raids alone? Well, it may be time to go one step further. Like Mr. Chen, the 70 year old Taiwanese is a true Pokémon GO professional.
While cruising through Taiwain’s capital Taipei, Chen San-yuan’s impressive set-up is more than just a few people behind. A little local celebrity and an online sensation, he has 15 smartphones on the front of his bike, along with cables and power banks so he does not run out of juice on the go.
In an interview with Reuters Television, Mr. Chen says he first started playing the game with a phone when his grandson showed him Pokémon GO for the first time in 2016. But he “played and played” and at some point a smartphone was no longer enough. There were three, then six, then nine, until he was fifteen.

Mr. Chen’s equipment costs about $ 4,800, and he spends $ 300 a month on in-game purchases. The retiree must also admit that sometimes he struggles all night hunting for Pokémon. As a result, he manages to rise fast in the level and to catch very rare pocket monsters. How it works? Well, yes, Mr. Chen also has a monstrous mount that he can clamp around his waist if he decides to take a walk instead of cycling.

Of course, as a true professional, Mr. Chen has not revealed his exact poke strategies – we’re not sure if he’s playing intuition, wisdom or daring on the team. But we would not try to take over one of his fully equipped arenas anyway. His dedication to the game is impressive, and if it’s even possible to describe Pokémon GO in any way as thoroughly played out: Mr. Chen will be the one to reach it first.
What do you say to Mr. Chen? Do you feel like a complete Pokémon GO Noob by comparison? Let us know in the comments!
